Start at 0.8 (80%). It usually looks identical to the original while cutting file size noticeably. For photos being uploaded to the web, 0.7 to 0.85 is a good range.
Can I compress GIF animations?
Compressing static images on this page keeps JPG, PNG and WebP animation-safe. For animated GIFs, use the GIF Tools page, which can shrink GIFs by resizing, reducing colors or removing frames.
Will compression ever remove the background of my PNG?
No. Transparency is preserved for PNG and WebP output. If you convert to JPG, the transparent areas are filled with a flat color because JPG does not support transparency.
